South Fourth Street Association
Louisville, Kentucky
The South Fourth Street Association is comprised of civic minded residents of South Fourth Street in the Historic Preservation District of Old Louisville.
Old Louisville, the City of Louisville's first suburb is the third largest preservation district in the United States and encompasses 48 contiguous square blocks of Victorian architecture, thus making it the largest collection in the nation.
The South Fourth Street Association is a member of the St. James Court Art Show Consortium, and as such, hosts the Fourth Street portion of the St. James Art Show - one of the largest outdoor art shows in the nation (see below for artist information). Proceeds derived from the show are used for the improvement and beautification of our historic neighborhood. Recent projects have included period street lighting, decorative, wrought iron trash receptacles, teakwood benches and planting urns along the street, a linear park on Hill Street in cooperation with the Third Street Association and many neighborhood clean up projects throughout the year. Members participated in the annual Central Park cleanup on April 14th, 2001.
Goals for 2001- 2005
