Old
Louisville in Autumn
Third
Street

A chateauesque house on the 1500 block of Third Street
Many Old Louisville homes incorporate local red sandstone for architectural detail.
Unknown to the builders of the time, the local sandstone was not as sturdy as the
European variety, and much of it has deteriorated badly. So far, no one has offered
a
solution on preserving the remaining stonework.
