History
The DuPont Mansion in
Central Park
This house was built at the top of the hill of the present-day Central Park by Rev. Stuart Robinson between 1869-71. The Bidermnan DuPont family opened the land to the public in the 1870s as a park, but continued living in the house until the early 1900s. The original cabin on the site, built by Cuthbert Bullitt in 1837, is probably one of the outbuildings seen on the left (Enlargement)
