![]() Jennie C. Benedict (1860-1928), confectioner and caterer, was an institution on Fourth Street from 1900 until she retired in 1924. But her first operation was at this location at her home, which stood here until 1903/4. Benedictine sandwiches continue to spread her name. She was also a leader in public health nursing services. |
Approximate date: by or before 1884 | early address: 1325 |
Architectural Style: unk | Current use: Hildebrand House high-rise apartments |
********************************
Next door to 1235, south at 1237 is an address we arbitrarily assigned and never really existed after 1908 per se, a house that did not survive much past 1903. This may have been in the location of the south lawn/garden of 1235 or maybe next to that, perhaps at the location later assigned (late 1930s) as 1245, by then, the Toddle House Restaurant. So this address may or may not be the same location as the next address in this sequence.
