 Bernard
Bernheim lived here from 1899 until 1920. He
immigrated from Germany in 1869. Along with his
brother Isaac, he established the Bernheim Brothers
Distillery, was active in national politics and with Isaac donated
the Jefferson Memorial in 1900. His brother Isaac W.
Bernheim, whose home still stands four blocks north of
here at 1014 S Third St., established the Bernheim
Arboretum and Research Forest in 1929.
