Most of these homes are all still standing, the exception being the fourth. It burned during the late 1970s.
Old Louisville residents may notice that across the street, many of the houses still had not been built in this view which actually dates to the late 1890s (ca. 1897). This is best seen on the enlargement. The land on the north part of the east side of the block had been a dairy farm until the mid 1890s, and some of the present houses from that part of the block were not built until the late 1890s to early 1900s.
This card is from the Saturday Evening Post series. To get this card, the instructions were: "To get them cut a post card coupon from the want page of The Evening Post, for each coupon you get one post card. Without coupon, price is one cent for each card."
This is now the 1400 block, but before the renumbering of the street in 1908/9, the 1600 block. From left to right (based on the 1902 Caron's City Directory):
